Basically, it’s a unique enough kind of event that people don’t have the the pre-peer-reviewed attribution models for it in the way we have for heatwaves and rainfall. So while it seems really obvious what the root cause is, it’s not quite as certain as a lot of other events, where people did the scientific legwork in advance.
